WALTER L. BIKOWITZ

Walter
Bikowitz has 32 years of experience with the New York State Office of General
Services and is currently the Director of the Procurement Services Group. In that capacity, he is responsible for the
direction of New York State's statewide-centralized procurement of commodities,
services and technology with a staff of over 90 and sales volume in excess of
$3.1 billion annually.
Prior
to his current assignment, Mr. Bikowitz initiated several new service programs
in the Procurement Services Group. His
accomplishments in that area include the State’s first travel program, the
first procurement card and the first statewide Electronic Value Transfer
program.
In
addition, Mr. Bikowitz received a NASPO Silver Medal award for emergency
standby services in 2000 that proved instrumental in reacting to September 11,
2001, developed a new online database program for libraries, for which he
received a NASPO Silver Medal award in 1997, and a 1994 environmental award for
New York State's first Integrated Pest Management program.
